Surfers Paradise is a city built on glitz and glamour so it’s important for our locals and visitors to look good, I mean who knows when you might want to snap a selfie on the beach?
Luckily we have some very talented individuals working in the precinct to make sure you can always look great and feel amazing.
We caught up with local hair and make up artist Jasmine Amey and owner of one of our favourite Surfers Paradise salons, Amey Hair & Make Up Artist, for a chat about Gold Coast trends and what it’s like to run a successful business in Surfers Paradise.
How would you describe Amey Hair & Make Up Artist and the services you offer?
I styled Amey with a quirky vibe a little like me!
We have a very modern Parisian feel with lots of greenery, bird cages, stripes and probably one of the best locations on the Coast! As we are situated in the 4217 building we are surrounded by amazing food that my clients often order during their service. It’s lovely being able to order Japanese, Italian, High tea, American style burgers and even gluten free options from the salon!
Essentially we are a fashionable boutique salon that likes to stay ahead with the latest hair and makeup trends and technology but we’re also a really friendly and helpful place where you can come and relax!
What makes Amey Hair & Make Up Artist stand out?
I offer services that can solve almost any hair, brow and makeup issue and I pay special attention to what Gold Coast locals need most!
For example at the moment my most popular service is my ‘Anti Frizz treatment’ This summer has only just begun and the humidity has sky rocketed!
Why suffer with crazy unruly hair when I can fix that problem for the summer months?
What is currently in style? What treatments and styles are most popular at the moment?
I have a lot of clients tell me that they don’t have any brows and have been trying to grow them for years but they just don’t seem to grow anymore? Well my ‘Hollywood Brow’ service is a heaven send if you have this problem!
How does Amey Hair & Make Up Artist fit into Surfers Paradise?
I like to think my salon is a fresh addition to Surfers Paradise as I provide some really exciting new services to the precinct that haven’t been seen before in town.
I am not a huge corporation! I am an artist with a passion for all things hair and makeup!
And finally what’s your favourite thing about Surfers Paradise?
I have lived on the coast for over 20 years now and I am loving how Surfers Paradise has been transformed over the years!
I think we had a bad rep in the past but it has blossomed! I love trying out all the food and even after all the time I have spent here I am still discovering new places and I am loving it!
