Acai addict: top 5 in Surfers

If you got into the acai fad, you know there’s no getting out of it! This little berry packs a punch when it comes to its health benefits, but it’s best known for being the inspiration behind many mouth-watering breakfast bowls. Here’s five of the best in town.

1.  Lot 1 Coffee

We’ll forgive you for not having discovered Lot 1 Coffee yet, over on Hanlan Street, but don’t leave it much longer because Lot 1 is gaining quite a following when it comes to opinions on the best coffee and all-day breakfasts going around. Their take on the acai bowl: acai berry blended with banana and blueberries, topped with organic toasted muesli, coconut flakes and seasonal fruit. Don’t forget the coffee!

2. Fraiche Fresh Food Kitchen

This relatively new super food health bar is really kicking goals in the breakfast and smoothie departments and the acai smoothie is no exception. This particular acai blend goes down a treat with their Cacao Bar if we so boldly recommend, with dates, honey, coconut, cacao nuts and chia seeds. Mmm mmm.

3. Circle Espresso Bar

An unassuming little hot spot for all things coffee and breakfast, Circle Espresso does an amazing acai bowl with assorted fruit, granola, muesli and seeds. Add a little yoghurt and mango blend for extra dollops of deliciousness.

4. Barbell Café @ World Gym

So yes, World Gym has officially opened up a little eatery inside their workout wonderland offering up amazing acai bowls! You can also get healthy high protein meals, shakes and coffees – but the acai bowl here is something else!

5. Café Alfons

It’s the perfect combination of house-made granola, fresh fruit and acai-infused yoghurt that makes Café Alfons’ acai bowl a winner. Not your typical way to eat acai but one of the best as it turns out!
